If you’re passionate about working in a team environment, then we want to hear from you!Location: ALS Metallurgy, KamloopsReports to: Manager, Analytical LabPosition Type: Full-TimeAbout the Position: This position is responsible for production chemistry that maintains high quality and output in the analytical laboratory.Specific Responsibilities:Conduct laboratory preparatory work including weighing and solution preparation as well as chemical/instrumental analysis, strictly following methodologies employing various analytical techniques. Techniques include ICP, AA, gravimetric, titrimetric, combustion analysis, fusions, sintering and other chemistry techniques and/or analyses as appropriate;Perform assigned analysis according to established QA/QC requirements, including all documentation;Use Microsoft Excel to create reports and evaluate data;Organize workload according to turnaround commitments and daily statistics;Work within a teamto meet workload and turnaround commitments in periods of fluctuating workloads;Complete calibration log and equipment records as well as perform day-to-day routine care and maintenance and report all serious malfunctions and problems to Manager;Maintain a clean work environment by performing timely cleaning of the work area, glassware and instruments;Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures; Other duties as assigned.About You:The ideal candidate would have:Recognized Degree or Technical Diploma in Chemistry or Sciences required;Experience in the use of ICP and Atomic Absorption instrumentation would be an asset;Experience in analytical chemical digestion techniques would be an asset.You would also have:Ability to learn new laboratory techniques and procedures and meet established QA/QC requirements;Detail oriented with a strong commitment to quality;Principles of laboratory ethics as applied to the production of valid analytical results;Organized, highly motivated and able to work under pressure and with strict deadlines;Skilled in effective English communication, both orally and in writing;Ability to establish and maintain effective working conditions with co-workers and work constructively as part of a team;Skill in utilizing laboratory equipment and computers to conduct sample and data analysis, interpreting analytical data and evaluating results;Ability to work safely and follow safety regulations, policies and procedures.Looking for further details?Candidates interested in this opportunity should apply online no later than October 25, 2018We would like to thank everyone for their interest in ALSbut only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted;For the employee referral bonus program, this position is eligible for a LevelB bonus award.ALS is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and is committed to fostering an inclusive work environment where the different strengths and perspectives of each employee are both recognized and valued.
