INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGNERACADEMIC RESERCH and DEVELOPMENTReporting to the Manager, Curriculum Development, the Instructional Designer will play a key role in the college’s effort to support best practices in quality curriculum design and development. This position will focus on new program development curriculum. The Instructional Designer will work collaboratively with faculty and the curriculum development team to create curriculum materials that incorporate teaching and learning theories, universal instructional design principles for accessibility, and the quality standards such as those developed by eCampus Alberta.RESPONSIBILITIES:Apply instructional design theory to develop print, hybrid, and online curricula Identify and communicate best practices for applying teaching and learning theories and instructional technologies to curriculum designApply universal instructional design principles to ensure curriculum documents are accessible to all learnersPlan and conduct workshops for faculty on instructional designManage numerous course development projects simultaneouslyIdentify and implement best practices in curriculum and instructional design and development, and bring new approaches to NorQuestQUALIFICATIONS:Master”s Degree in Education with specialization in instructional design and/or curriculum development Minimum of three years’ experience in designing curricula in a post-secondary environment is required. Minimum of three years teaching experience in a post secondary institution is required. Experience developing courses and/or teaching within a Learning Management System (e.g., Blackboard, Moodle)Thorough understanding of instructional design theories, methodologies, and best practices Solid understanding of e-learning content delivery technologiesKnowledge of universal instructional design principles Proficiency with eCampus and eCampus Quality Standards is considered an asset. Successful project management experienceAbility to successfully manage multiple tasks, and set and meet deadlinesAbility to work in a team environmentExcellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skillsDiplomatic and proactive problem-solving skillsSALARY:Commensurate with education and experience. This is a Faculty term position until June 29, 2019.
