The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has an opening for two temporary full-time Information Technology Specialists with Information Technology Services for a period up to two years. The Information Technology Specialist is responsible for all aspects of maintenance, enhancement and replacement of the network and server infrastructure throughout the Municipality. This includes maintaining an accurate record of all network infrastructure, and providing subject matter expertise on current systems and future initiatives. The scope of infrastructure support includes all LAN, WAN and wireless communication services; all network, server systems and components; all email systems and components; all Blackberry, mobile devices, and all legacy network and systems equipment.
â¢ Manage workload of contractor support staff
â¢ Report, record and track budgetary information for the Corporate Network Budgets.
â¢ Maintain accurate records of Network infrastructure and devices.
â¢ Provide subject matter expert advice and recommendations in the field of Network Systems.
â¢ Coordinate time and tasks for contract staff, external contractors and service providers
â¢ Monitor account variance and manages invoices pertaining to voice services and hardware
â¢ Responsible for both day-to-day production tasks as assigned and also longer term projects and system maintenance activities
â¢ Responsible to assist during emergency planning and incidents
Essential Qualifications :
Ability to demonstrate Chatham-Kent’s Core Values and Competencies through a combination of education and experience:
â¢ Completion of post-secondary education (preferably in computer science program) with four to six years of related experience; or a combination of related education and experience
â¢ Four to six years Network Systems technician and analyst experience
â¢ Good analytical and information management skills
â¢ Demonstrated competency in managing supporting staff
â¢ Demonstrated technical competency to maintain systems operations
â¢ Demonstrated competency in communicating technical concepts and recommendations to management and customers
â¢ Must be able to prioritize effectively and handle a variety of inputs from multiple directions while maintaining excellent customer service and working relationships
â¢ Strong computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) (or other similar software program)
â¢ All new employees will be required to complete their Health & Safety and other on-line mandatory training on or before their first day of employment; other training (including Health & Safety policies) may also be required
Certifications, Memberships, Licenses:
â¢ MSCE or other Microsoft Certifications
â¢ Cisco CCNA
â¢ CISCO CCNA Voice
â¢ Vendor certifications (i.e. Nortel, Avaya, HP, Microsoft)
This position will work mostly indoors.
Driver’s license/vehicle requirements :
Because of the responsibilities, this position requires the successful candidate to have a valid Ontario driver’s licence (minimum class G) a driver’s abstract will be conducted by the Municipality of Chatham-Kent. An acceptable driver’s abstract will: be an original document and current (within the previous thirty (30) days); have no more than four (4) demerit points; have no more than two (2) convictions for the same offence; have no criminal code convictions; have no ânon-medical or administrative’ license suspension in the preceding three (3) years; because this position may be required to drive their own vehicle, a reliable vehicle is also required.
Police check requirements
Because of the environment this position will be working in, the successful candidate will be required to furnish an original Police Information Search (criminal reference check) prior to commencement of employment; you must be 18 years of age or older to obtain a vulnerable police check.

Hours of Work:
This position works weekdays, and occasional evenings and weekends.
The temporary full-time position has an hourly wage rate of $36.259 to $40.939 (2018 rates based on grade 7 of the 2018 non-union market adjustment grid), plus 15% in lieu of benefits (which includes health & dental benefits, statutory & non-statutory holidays, and non-enrolment in OMERS) and 4% vacation pay. Where a permanent employee is receiving benefits and is the successful candidate for a temporary vacancy, benefits will remain as per the policy manual.
