Corix’s 100+ year history is rooted in building, operating, and maintaining water, wastewater, electric, gas, and sustainable energy utility infrastructure.The Corix Group has an opening for a 12 month full time contract HSE Advisor. This position assesses workplace activitieswithin the assigned business unit(s), provides technical support in order to develop and implement health, safety and environmental procedures that support new and existing operational activities, as well as ensuring compliance with all legal, regulatory and organizational safety standards.Plans, organizes, directs and coordinates the Health, Safety and Environment program for assigned business unit(s), and tracks program budget and spending.Plans and conducts field inspections and audits of branches and work locations to ensure conformance with established occupational health, safety, and environment regulations,makes joint inspections with federal, state and local agencies as required, and recommends corrective or remedial action as a result of an inspection/investigation.Plans, implements and evaluates programs and procedures needed to meet regulatory requirements and to attain safety goals and objectives; assists and advises management and supervisory staff on the development and implementation of effective and efficient strategies.Develops accident prevention and occupational health control measures; assists in the preparation of specific activity guidelines, regulations and master plans for occupational health and safety.Implements, and monitors programs, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, provincial and state workplace safety and health laws and regulations.Coordinates with managers or other appropriate staff in providing work site health and safety investigations; ensures compliance with safety policies and procedures; assists in the development of hazardous materials programs, accident prevention and safety programs.Recommends corrective or remedial action as a result of an inspection/investigation.Analyzes legislative and regulatory changes for the assigned region(s), working with HSE manager to ensure that practices meet all current standards and legislative mandates established by federal and provincial regulations.Identifies health and safety training needs.Works independently and in partnership with the HSE and business group management teams to organize and implement initiatives.Performs confidential administrative functions including written correspondence, reports, spreadsheets and other documents.
