TECHNICAL SUPPORT GROUP
is currently recruiting for a
FORMULATION � SCIENTIST
for an Edmonton area based opportunity. The successful candidate will join an expanding formulation group and will assist in developing the final product formulation, process procedures, and packaging.
Plan, conduct and monitor various laboratory experiments to support the final formulation and processes for various plant extract-based dosage forms including capsules, tablets, oral liquids, concentrates, topicals etc.
Clearly document all data generated and report all research work performed, including creation and documentation of study and experimental protocol, development of experimental process, identification and corrections of developmental and manufacturing issues/problems/ observations and writing formulation development reports
Determine the physical and chemical stability of formulations
Compile the results and perform data analyses
Provide support in the transfer of R&D knowledge into the manufacturing facility
Participate in activities leading to Technical Transfer, process validation and commercial production troubleshooting
Contribute to departmental strategy and provide input on lab requirements and improvements
Ensures availability of chemicals, excipients etc., needed to carry out all process/product development tasks
Master or Ph.D. degree in Chemistry/Pharmaceutical Chemistry/Biochemistry or a related field
5-10�years of applicable industry experience, preferable in nutritional supplement or pharmaceutical product development
5+ years prior experience in Product Development
Experience in liquid, suspension, emulsion, semi-solid and solid formulation development is an asset
Understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of process development; product formulation, previous experience in an applied research, development or analytical environment is an advantage
Experience with the use, and an in-depth understanding of, basic chromatographic analytical methods
Familiarity with pharmaceutical unit operations and equipment; blending, encapsulation, tablet compression and coating, high shear granulation, etc.
Good written and verbal communication skills
