  • Lead installation, commissioning, and verification activities on Fire Alarm related equipment for all types of installations, including connection of devices and circuits.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, submittals, and specifications.
  • Supervise, delegate, and coordinate work with co-workers and electricians working on Fire Alarm systems.
  • Complete verification reports for submittal to customers and carry out system acceptance tests with AHJs and other interested parties.
  • Complete As-Built drawings on the completion of the job.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of various product lines.
  • Identify deficiencies and code issues in the field during verification.
  • Troubleshoot hardware issues, ground faults, and open and short circuits.
  • Travel throughout the District business area when required.
  • Conduct programming modifications to an existing system without supervision.
  • Program audio and non-audio standalone systems (upon training).
  • Assist in developing employee training programs for employees and customers.
  • Mentor less experienced technicians.
  • QualificationsWhat we look for:Required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience within the Fire Protection industry.
  • Completion of a college diploma in Fire Protection or Electrical/Electronic or equivalent experience.
  • Completion of a Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) certification or equivalent.
  • Knowledgeable of provincial building & fire codes for verification purposes.
  • Demonstrated ability to program basic fire alarm systems without supervision.
  • Proficient in the use of computers, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Windows operating systems.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills with working knowledge of electronic test equipment.
  • Ability to express clear technical solutions clearly and concisely.40 lbs
  • Ability to lift equipment and tools to 40lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Strong communication skills, leadership skills, and customer service focus.
