Sponsorship Eligibility Expires:2019-04-25 Responsibilities/Duties: Emergency Medicine Physician–Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital18-FSCH-EM-LOCUM-04 Alberta Health Services in partnership with the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, is inviting applications from Emergency Medicine Physicians to join the Department of Emergency Medicine in the Edmonton Zone at the Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital for one 1.0 FTE locum position for a 12 month term. The Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital (FSCH) is a community hospital in the town of Fort Saskatchewan, located 15 minutes northeast of Edmonton on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River. The Emergency Department provides 24/7 services offering a range of acute and outpatient care including 24-hour emergency services, women’s health, and ophthalmology. FSCH sees 19,000 ED visits per year. This opportunity is perfect for Emergency Physicians interested in building a foundation that promotes the health and well-being within a thriving community, and as part of a larger zone. The facility offers additional on-site services and ambulatory clinics including IV Therapy, Orthopedic Medicine, Tobacco Reduction, medical consult specialists, mental health services and support services. The successful candidate will fulfill clinical and non-clinical duties as an integral member of the Edmonton Zone, Department of Emergency Medicine team. Qualifications: The candidate will have exceptional communication skills and a passion for quality and patient safety. They will be considered a strong clinician by their peers.The successful applicant will have, or be eligible for, certification in Emergency Medicine with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada or the College of Family Physicians Canada (FRCPC or CCFP-EM) and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Residents must be eligible to write the appropriate exam at the next sitting. ACLS, PALS, ATLS and NRP competency are required.
