Director of Engineering
Our client is a growing and profitable multinational automotive supplier. If you are interested in a new senior engineering position starting in January of 2019 we would like to hear from you as this is an immediately required role.
We are currently seeking a Director of Engineering to fill this growth position.
The Director of Engineering directs the engineering activities.
Oversees multiple engineers, managers and technicians in process, tooling, program management and design.
Manages budgets for necessary capital expenditures and new equipment, tooling and machine procurement.
Strategic alignment of staff’s activities by coordinating engineering projects, steering capital appropriations to improve the facility’s competitive position, managing technical direction through Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost, conducting performance reviews and organizing training to improve the team’s knowledge and skill set.
Create and maintain safe work environment
Work with all manufacturing and business functions to optimize safety, quality, delivery, product performance and cost.
Responsible for the manufacturing, design and plant engineers.
Plans, directs and coordinates the development and design of
parts and other special devices for the production function based on engineering blueprints and other engineering or shop data.
Ensures design of existing and future tools conforms to engineering and production changes per customer requirement. Drives R&D for division.
Provide feedback during performance evaluations and one on one conversations
Ensure proper levels of staffing, seeks out innovation and hunts for ways to reduce manufacturing costs through LEAN and WCM methodologies.
Develops and conducts work programs in accordance with company’s policies, priorities and budget constraints
Provides technical oversight and assistance to sales, product costing, and manufacturing operations as required
8-10 years’ management to director level experience in an automotive manufacturing environment. Current or recent experience required in this area.
P.Eng combined with business education (MBA or equivalent) strongly preferred.
Extensive experience in capital investment and strategic planning
Strong PC skills including the Microsoft Office Suite; including Excel and Word
Required knowledge of capital projects and how to plan and justify
Strong knowledge of ERP and Business Process Transformation
