Based our of Home Office and reporting to the Executive Director, Hotel Sales & Marketing, this role will be responsible for developing incremental meeting and events business for special projects within the Accor North America Network (primarily focused on Fairmont Grand Del Mar) to ensure consistent achievement of sales targets. The Director of Business Development will be responsible for sourcing, forging and managing new business relationships and associated revenue streams within the meetings and events segment. Key duties include sourcing of new accounts, sales calls, property site visits, VIP and familiarization experiences for potential clients that will provide a positive competitive point of difference in the venue selection process, improving group conversion ratio. The essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: RESPONSIBILITIES Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service. Ensure prompt and courteous service is extended to both internal and external customers. Ensure the achievement of group sales objectives by acting in a sales leadership role by securing new meetings and group business, conducting site inspections, providing market leadership (assigned geographical territories and segments); contributing to overall team achievement of monthly, quarterly and annual goal. Participate with site inspection and customer event planning process, collaborating with sales managers, third parties and operation stakeholders, to provide ‘memory making’ site inspection experiences with attention to detail that enables us to win business from competition; creating new experiences to separate Fairmont Grand Del Mar from competition. Take leadership role in preparation of regional customer events and local FAM’s. Establish parameters, quotes and negotiate prices, confirming by written contracts. Maintain accounts, contact and activity records and business details within the appropriate software applications. Work closely with Hotel Sales and Operations teams to ensure all details of the contract were delivered. Collaborate with sales managers, marketing and operating team, managing special preparation of materials, gifts and presentations for trade shows and sales missions. Assist stakeholders with business development and marketing projects for assigned market segments. Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports, as required. Balance operational, administrative and Colleague needs. Follow departmental policies and procedures. Follow all safetypolicies. QUALIFICATIONS: Previous Global Sales or Director of Group Sales experience required Extensive experience in US luxury hotel market Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications and or relevant computer applications required University/College degree in a related discipline required Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities Highly responsible & reliable Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times VISA REQUIREMENTS: Must already be legally entitled to work in US to be considered for the position.
