Location: Oak Island Resort & Conference Centre –> Job Code: 4778 Division: Hotels Title: Cook I Position Status: Full Time City: Western Shore State/Province: Nova Scotia Description POSITION: Cook I REPORTING TO: Chef de Cuisine / Banquet Chef Welcome to Oak Island Resort & Conference Centre – Atlantic Canada’s first resort, spa and convention centre facility. Far away from the everyday, but only 45 minutes from Halifax! “Through the strengths of our crew, we provide authentic service, deliver unique four ‘SEA’son experiences and create treasured memories.” We are looking forthree (3) experienced and customer focused individuals to join our Culinary crew. Our ideal Cook I will have two or more years in a busy, full service kitchen environment with a positive attitude and willingness to grow and develop. These are permanent, full-time opportunities. RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to): Follow the leadership of the Chef de Cuisine / Banquet Chef, providing top quality a product that meets and exceeds guests’ expectations Produce orders from the dining room and room service in timely and efficient manner Assist to open or close the front line according to established procedures Prepare and set up of the line, having all mise en place according to prep list Maintain and promote a safe and clean work environment. Prepare and cook all orders according to standards, within the established time guidelines Peroform other duties as assigned by the Chef de Cuisine / Banquet Chef or designate. EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 2 years’ culinary experience as a line cook in a busy environment Diploma or equivalent from an accredited culinary program Registered Apprentice would be an asset Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail Positive attitude & team player a must Willingness to learn and take on multiple tasks Ability to show initiative and handle problems without guidance Must be able to stand for 8 hours Must be available to work days/evenings/weekends and holidays Oak Island Resort & Conference Centre is committed to Employment Equity and our goal is to be a diverse workforce that is representative at all job levels.
