If so, this entry level communications position might be great for you.The Christian Reformed Church in North America is a denomination of more than 1,000 congregations and approximately 230,000 people across the United States and Canada. The denomination supports these congregations and individuals by providing resources and support around topics such as abuse prevention, creating inclusive and accessible worship services, faith formation for people of all ages, global mission, advocacy, and more.The communications intern will play a vital role in making this possible. Meeting with a variety of ministries, this position will identify stories and discussion topics, and will work to share them across a variety of communications channels especially within Canada.This internship runs Fall semester 2018, 10 hours per week, pays $14/hour and offers flexibility to work in the Communications office in Burlington, Ontario, and to work remotely at times. Meet with Canadian Ministry leaders (Canadian Ministries Director, Diaconal Ministries Canada staff, Service Link staff, Canadian Aboriginal Ministries Committee members, Race Relations coordinator, etc) to learn about Canadian ministry and identify possible communications topics (e.g. PIPEDA – what it means and why it matters in your church; Mission Montreal – what lessons can we learn for ministry with our non-Christian neighbors across Canada; Youth Ministry Project – what have we learned so far, where is the project going next; Racism in Canada – why we can”t sit back and feel smugly superior to our US counterparts)2. Post a minimum of 1 blog, resource, or discussion topic per week on crcna.org/network under the heading of “Ministry in Canada”.3. Post a minimum of 1 photo per week on Instagram.com/crcna and assist with maintaining the page and interacting with followers4. Write a minimum of 1 news story per month for posting on crcna.org5. Be part of the team that is developing a mobile phone app (CRCNA’s Bridge app) for local churches, providing input, soliciting feedback, and assisting in a successful rollout to Canadian churches6. Utilize google analytics and other metrics to find trends and increase engagement on CRCNA social media, crcna.org/network, and the bridge app.NoneThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.1. Enthusiastic about the Christian church, its mission, vision and ministry around the world;2. Familiarity with social networking sites and/or active participant in an online community;3. Good writer with ability to formulate accurate and engaging headlines, short descriptions, updates, etc.4. Disciplined, self-motivated work style; able to function competently and productively with limited supervision; 5. Good organizational skills with attention to detail; and6. Familiarity with the Christian Reformed Church would be an asset1. University or College students in an English, Writing, Media, Communications or related program.2.
