Our Geotechnical and Materials Engineering group is looking for a Civil Engineering Technologist in Red Deer, Alberta to work on a part-time contract basis. This position will be responsible for the field and laboratory testing of concrete, soils and other construction materials. The successful candidate will work with our team of recognized industry experts within our Engineering group. Working independently, this will be a key position to establishing our presence for concrete, soils and other construction materials testing in the greater Red Deer area. The responsibilities, as outlined below, require a self-starter who will coordinate and perform testing services, and will involve travel to both our Calgary and Edmonton labs. Responsibilities •Performing field and laboratory testing of concrete, soil, aggregate and asphalt concrete including sampling, concrete testing, sieve analysis, density testing using nuclear density gauges, preparation of Proctors and Marshall molds, asphalt cement content, Atterberg limits and moisture content. (Testing is undertaken in accordance with CSA and ASTM standards) •Laboratory testing to be done at either our Calgary or Edmonton office location •Providing quality control and quality assurance on a variety of laboratory and field testing projects •Preparation of field and testing reports Explore a different kind of company – one that offers exciting challenges and fulfilling rewards. Additional relevant post-secondary education in the area of Civil Engineering, Water Resources or Environmental Technology Diploma from a recognized Technical School would be considered an asset •Minimum five to ten years of materials testing experience would be considered an asset •Demonstrated practical hands-on design, construction administration and project management expertise (i.e. related office and field experience) is an asset but not required •Eligible for registration with ASET •Legally entitled to work in Canada •Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products •Excellent verbal and written communication, listening and time management skills •Excellent analytical and problem solving skills •Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License •Must be willing to travel and work in a field setting away from headquarters •Successful incumbent must be highly motivated and able to work independently •Valid CSA/CCIL Concrete Testing certification would be considered and asset Additional Information All qualified candidates will be considered for the position.
