Be an ambassador for our exceptional offerings as Catering & Events Manager, where you will liaise between multiple departments to meet the needs – and exceed the expectations – of your clients. Hotel Overview: Edmonton’s "Chateau on the River" This historic Chateau on the River features 198 spacious rooms and suites, combining traditional décor with a high level of personal service. Fairmont Gold was introduced in June 2016, an elevated experience of a hotel within a hotel; this product will further cement Fairmont Hotel Macdonald’s reputation as the best, most luxurious hotel in Edmonton. Restaurants include the Confederation Lounge and award-winning Harvest Room, both with spectacular river valley views and seasonal outdoor terraces. Summary of Responsibilities: Reporting to the Director of Catering and Conference Services, this temporary, 1 year maternity coverage positions responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service Solid compilation of all pertinent information leading to clear and concise agendas, wedding/gala resumes, and event orders Responsible for the successful outcome and supervision of all assigned wedding/gala programs from date of booking to departure, including event requirements, guestroom requirements, food & beverage requirements, audio-visual, accounting, etc. Review, coordinate, and manage all wedding/gala bookings as assigned by the Director of Catering by communicating between the client and the hotel throughout the preplanning and execution phases Communicate all details of assigned groups to all departments in a professional, thorough and timely manner by effectively using Group Resumes, Banquet Event Orders and internal correspondence Manage and execute the terms of the contract for the program as outlined by the Sales Manager and/or Fairmont Hotels & Resorts standards to ensure all contractual terms agreed upon are carried out and to maximize function space for highest profitability for the hotel Conduct thorough and knowledgeable site visits for clients on request. Develop and execute comprehensive market-related quarterly and annual Action Plans to drive revenues, with guidance of Director of Catering and Conference Services Facilitate comprehensive pre-event meetings with clients and key hotel staff Work closely with the client and hotel departments throughout the duration of the event by being available to assist the client and hotel departments at the appropriate times Establish good business and social relationships with the key industry suppliers and vendors, and participate in activities related to public relations to further increase sales leads for the hotel Maintain a high level of service standards as outlined by Fairmont Hotels & Resorts standards, and measured by JD Powers and Associates Attend weekly/monthly departmental communication meetings Follow departmental policies and procedures Follow all safety policies Other duties as assigned Work week schedule will be Tuesday to Saturday.
