Reporting to the
Underground Electrical Supervisor
Automation/Tele-Op Technician
will be primarily responsible for supporting the maintenance and installation of all infrastructure related to tele-operation and communication.
At Red Lake, we offer a wide range of equipment and projects for engineers to hone their skills and work closely with tradespeople.
This position will offer a balance of office and field work with a focus on maintenance activities rather than technical design.

At our location the electrical infrastructure is vast including from surface to underground as follows.
115kv mine owned power line and substation.
Seven (7) 44kv surface distribution substations.
Two (2) operating processing mills with significant amounts of automation and instrumentation.
Five (5) Headframes with ten (10) mine hoists.
Three (3) Underground complexes with numerous 4160v and 13.8kv distribution systems.
Underground equipment that is remotely operated from surface.
Communication and monitoring systems ranging from fiber optics, radio, seismic etc.…
Comply with installation practices and ensure they are followed for tele-op infrastructure.
Identify and collaborate with OEM on reliability improvements of components.
Maintain tele-op status infrastructure tracking
Update details for existing hardware (location, IP address etc)
Broad overview for future requirements (location, material, status).
Support other departments in communication systems (seismic etc) as required.
Seismic (support ground control team, small repairs, installs, assist when required).
Work closely with the surface automation team for PLC and related hardware communication to surface.
Work closely with ITT on shared/integrated services such as fiber, telephones and wireless internet.
Establish working knowledge of the mobile equipment aspects of tele-remote hardware to assist with troubleshooting and installations as required.
Scope and prepare tele-op kits.
Install tele-op infrastructure & share information between shifts.
Participate in training on troubleshooting tools and techniques for various technologies used.
Assist with electrical installations as required.
Maintain prints and documentation.
All other duties assigned.
The successful candidate must have a thorough working knowledge of the communication and automation systems in a typical underground mine.
Trade certificate in instrumentation, electrical or diploma in relevant field.
Electrical engineering background would be an asset
