ASSISTED LIVING COORDINATORMaison Calgary(Full Time)We are currently seeking a passionate, hands-on Assisted Living Coordinator who is responsible for supporting the overall operation and interdepartmental team functioning within the Assisted Living neighbourhood of the community.The position is ‘people intensive’, with a substantial component of the job involving maintaining strong resident/family and team member/volunteer relations.MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Develops and facilitates programs to meet the needs of the residents within the Assisted Living program ensuring that legislative guidelines, best practices and expectations related to Assisted LivingOrganizes, facilitates and tracks in-service and continuing education programs for Assisted Living team membersManages the large team of Resident Care Partners in the Assisted Living neighbourhood to ensure resident care, monitoring and appropriate interaction by forecasting staffing levels, recruiting, supervising, developing, performance managing, motivating and retaining employeesScheduling of the Resident Care Partners to ensure all residents’ needs are met Fosters and maintains a strong relationship with residents and their families by being available and flexible to resident and family needs, as requiredActively participates as a member of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for resident care and services by promoting collaboration with members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure all resources are available and accessible to residents in Active LivingEnsures the integrity, accuracy and timely completion of resident records, reports and assessments by maintaining resident records according to legislative regulations and policies, to include necessary documentation such as progress notes and reports and maintaining resident information in YARDI (the electronic care system), auditing the data and providing technical support to team membersWorks in collaboration with the Director of Wellness, ensuring monthly and bi-annual assessments are completed to confirm that care plans are current according to BayBridge’s care model and regulatory standardsLiaises with and provides support to the Life Enrichment Coordinator by collaborating and assisting with the development of recreation, activities and life enriching programs for both individual and group involvement based on resident needs and interests and assessing residents for development of life enriching programs and service plan in a timely mannerWorks collaboratively with Director of Culinary Services and the Resident Care Partner Team to provide the same quality of culinary experience in the neighbourhood as is found in the main dining room.Performs other related duties consistent with the duties outlined above as assignedDesired Skills and ExperienceEducation:Diploma from a recognized college related to social services, healthcare or gerontologyLicense/Designation:First Aid and CPR certifiedExperience:Three (3) years experience in senior living, healthcare environmentTwo (2) years organizational management and leadership experienceKnowledge:Seniors’ care, aging and diversityHealthcare issues and assisted living servicesLeadership best practices and principlesLegislative regulations and policies related to retirement careChanges in mobility of seniors and mechanical lifting devicesMust be familiar with all applicable health and safety legislation, have knowledge of any potential or actual danger to health or safety in the work place and have knowledge of appropriate actions to be taken in order to ensure the health and safety of staffCompetencies, Skills & Abilities:Ability to supervise staff, organize and schedule work functions and motivate a team of professional employeesStrong oral, verbal and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of peopleExcellent organizational skillsAbility to multi-taskAbility to resolve contentious or sensitive issues or situationsExcellent computer skills with proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and electronic care systemsAbility to maintain confidentiality of resident informationAbility to work in a flexible environment to meet the needs of the residents, including weekend and holiday coverage, as requiredPersonal Suitability:Demonstrates a strong desire to serve seniors and their familiesOpen, friendly and responsiveAble to apply tact, discretion and sound judgementTrustworthy, hands-on leaderShows initiative and commitment to excellenceResident centredDesirable Qualifications:Experience working with dementia and other aging illnesses in a healthcare settingExperience with YARDI (electronic care system) preferredDegree from a recognized university
