Job detailsJob 1of 1ApplySend to friendSave to cartView similar jobsReq ID10068BRPosition TitleApprentice – MachinistNo. of Positions1Geographic LocationGuelph, Ontario, CanadaFacilityCorvex Mfg.DepartmentEngineeringJob DescriptionDescriptionQUALIFICATIONS:•Successful completion of Secondary School (Grade 12) or equivalent (GED).Successful candidates must provide proof of Grade 12 (or GED) to Ministry ofTraining Consultant to become a registered apprentice.•Successful candidates will then be required to progress through amulti-step selection process and will be required to pass Testing/Evaluationsbefore proceeding to an interview.•Related work experience and/or training will be viewed as an asset.•Able to prioritize work and deal with a rapidly changing work environment.•Read schematic drawings in order to troubleshoot and repair equipment.•Interact with customer personnel to co-ordinate repairs or installationto their equipment.• Ability to work independently, however, work as part of a team that includesother trades people and professionals to install, repair and maintainelectrical systems and equipment.• Ability to search a database to find out whether or not a problem with aspecific piece of equipment has been experienced elsewhere in the facility.• Receive in-house safety training to update certifications such asWorkplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), Transportation ofDangerous Goods (TDG), First Aid and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).Learn about new equipment on the job by reading manuals and through hands-onexperience.•Must be willing to work overtime•Must be able to work all shiftsRESPONSIBILITIES:•Complete the apprenticeship training standards as established by OntarioMinistry of Training and Linamar.•Participate and pass the Day release to a community college for thein-class portion of the program, with the balance of the program involvingtraining-on-the-job.•Maintain a log sheets of duties and time allocated. You are expected toshow continuous improvement and complete the program.•Maintain performance, your progress will be regularly evaluated in eachof your rotations. Poor performance in any rotation may result in your removalfrom the Apprenticeship.•Apply and write the Provincial Examination within one (1) year ofcompletion date of apprenticeship.•Apply knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop, mathematics,machine ability of materials and layout techniques.•Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specificationsor sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces,sequence of machining operations and set-up requirements.•Compute dimensions and tolerances to measure and lay out work pieces.•Calculate and set controls to regulate speeds and feeds.•Verify dimensions of machined parts for accuracy and conformance tospecifications using precision measuring instruments such as; micrometers, verniers, calipers, height gauges, optical comparators or other specializedinstrumentsLinamar is committed to promoting accessible recruitment as outlined in the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
