Sponsorship Eligibility Expires:2018-11-07 Responsibilities/Duties: The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Neurology in partnership with Alberta Health Services and Covenant Health, invites applications for an Academic Neurology Physician, Movement Disorders to be based at the Of Alberta Hospital.The successful applicant will have a major clinical focus, dedicating at least 60% of their time to clinical activity including novel clinical program development in an area that aligns with the existing strengths of the University, Faculty, Department and Division. The successful candidate will have Movement Disorders fellowship training beyond Neurology training. Evidence of scholarly will be encouraged.Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions. The University is currently home to 39,000 students and 15,000 faculty and staff. The Division of Neurology currently has 30 Faculty members. It provides clinical services to all acute care facilities in Edmonton, and consultative services to Northern Alberta and western NWT. The Movement Disorders Program has 7 neurologists with active basic science and clinical research as well as an active Deep Brain Stimulation Program. Key accountabilities will include, but will not be limited to clinical practice of inpatient and ambulatory care in Adult Neurology, classroom and bedside teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical trainees, including Neurology subspecialty residents and Movement Disorders fellows. Clinical practice is expected of the successful candidate and may include, but not be limited to; inpatient consultation, inpatient neurology care and participation in Zone wide after hours call; ambulatory care. Other areas of clinical interest may be incorporated into the role.
