Right now we’re looking for great people like you to join our team for our 2018/19 Live Horse Racing Season! We’re looking for outgoing, professional, guest service driven individuals with culinary experience that want to further their career as 3rd Cook (Demi Chef). You will be responsible for executing menu item production with an emphasis on quality and presentation by following the instructions of the culinary management team. We have both permanent and temporary positions available. Temporary position will end in April 2019 and will require flexible scheduling and a minimum of Friday evening and Sunday afternoon availability for Live Racing Days; additional shifts may be scheduled. Racing Days are subject to change.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Preparing, baking, cooking and presenting menu items in a timely fashion; following standardized recipes;
Preparing mis en place (“setting in place” of foods, garnishes, sauces, dishes, cutlery etc.);
Assisting the CDP’s with product receipts, breakdown, storage and rotation;
Cleaning culinary equipment after use and/or removing soiled equipment to the dish pit;
Assisting with month end inventories as directed;
Lift up to 50 pounds;
Liaising and communicating effectively with all appropriate operational departments;
Developing and cultivating strong working relationships with all stakeholders (guests, ownership and team members);
Ensuring compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations;
Performing other duties as assigned or directed.
Minimum 2 years progressive culinary experience;
Culinary education is an asset;
Enrollment or completion of the ITA apprentice program an asset;
Experience working in an establishment with multiple kitchens is considered an asset;
Previous buffet experience is considered an asset;
Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time;
A willingness to learn, develop and achieve new skills for personal and professional development;
Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills;
Must be available to work a variety of shifts including days, nights and weekends;
Food Safe Level 1 Certification required;
Ability to successfully obtain a Criminal Record Check.
