Performance ExpectationsAssist in the execution of compilation, bookkeeping and tax engagementsWork with the Accounting team to execute full cycle bookkeeping for MNP clientsPrepare and maintain payroll and related government remittances/filings, recording of sales, accounts receivable, expenses, accounts payable, payroll and Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) transactionsPrepare T4s, T5s and ROEsSet up client files, assist with the completion of budgets and other administrative planning and completion aspects of accounting workPerform the month-end and quarter-end close process timely and accuratelyMaintain, monitor and reconcile GL accounts, including but not limited to cash, bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accrued liabilities, intercompany and point of sale (POS)/system uploadsIdentify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies, discuss with manager or engagement partner and develop resolutions to resolve issues and errorsCommunicate with governments regarding information requests, assessments and installmentsWork with accounting software and provide support to clientsDevelop and maintain relationships with client management Develop a thorough understanding of MNP’s services, businesses and industryContribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes CredentialsPossess two (2) to five (5) years of full cycle bookkeeping experienceCompletion of certificate or diploma in accounting would be considered an assetAbility to administer and understand full cycle accounting in a fast-paced environmentWorking knowledge of trial balances, general ledger (GL) databases, financial statement close processes and accounting mattersExperience in preparing T4’s and T5’s and knowledge of personal and corporate tax is preferredUnderstanding of payroll, bookkeeping and record keeping practices on a manual and computerized system(s)Experience working with, or exposure to, accounting and tax software such as Caseware, Profile, Quickbooks and Simply Accounting is preferredStrong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPointCore Competencies and Personal CharacteristicsIntegrity – professional whose honesty, integrity, confidentiality and high ethical standards contributes to effective leadership and optimal business relationshipsEnergy – displays enthusiasm, optimism, drive and passion while maintaining a high level of productivity and a balanced lifestyleDiversity – understands the importance of different backgrounds, perspectives and experiences and is respectful of individual differencesCommunication – effectively expresses ideas and conveys information in business writing, conversations and interactions with othersClient Service Excellence – understands the importance of quality client service by being courteous, responding to client requests in a timely manner and monitoring satisfactionTeamwork & Relationship Development – works collaboratively with team members in order to achieve a common goal and develops, maintains and strengthens relationships with others, both inside and outside the FirmAccountability – takes responsibility for one’s own performance by setting clear goals and tracking progress against those goals; is highly organized and uses personal judgement and decision makingFlexibility – effectively manages multiple assignments, adapts to changing priorities and is able to work independently or as part of a teamMNP encourages a balanced lifestyle and offers benefits that suit the way our team members work and play!
